HF Introduces Game-Changing Player Movement Rules

by Guest » Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:22 am

The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) has announced historic updates to its Player Movement Regulations, effective for the 2025–2026 season, to make hockey more inclusive and accessible.

Key Highlights:
Residency Rules Removed: U10 and above players can now join any association, from AAA to House League.
Local Focus for U9 and Below: Younger players remain in local programming for community engagement.
Geographically Structured Leagues: New leagues will reduce travel and improve accessibility.
Temporary Pause on New Rep Teams: A halt on adding U10+ Rep teams allows for restructuring.
Stricter Anti-Tampering Rules: Increased penalties for player recruitment violations.
“These changes prioritize player development and family choice while ensuring hockey remains fun and accessible,” said OHF Executive Director Phillip McKee.

Let’s build a stronger future for hockey!
